Our two freshwater fly fishing lakes are set in tranquil surroundings covering a total area of 2.5 acres. They are both well stocked with rainbow, brown and blue trout ranging on average from 1lb to 5lbs although a recent catch was of a 7lbs fish.

The lakes are open all year round from dawn to dusk and there is a fishing lodge with tea and coffee making facilities as well as a toilet. All visitors MUST sign in there before they start fishing. We request that visitors use only barbless hooks and please note children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Thornton Lodge also offers expert qualified fly fishing tuition for groups or individuals. Working with Jeff Metcalfe from Tek 2 Fly Fishing (www.tek2flyfishing.co.uk) we can arrange full day, half day and taster sessions. These make a fabulous birthday present or a great day out for a corporate activity.
